I am currently a Professor of Strategic Management in the School of Management at the University of Michigan-Flint. I am also a Core Faculty member in the International and Global Studies Program at the University of Michigan-Flint, a Faculty Affiliate with the Center for Southeast Asian Studies at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor), a Non-Resident Research Fellow with the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) in the Philippines, and a Visiting Professor at NIDA Business School in Thailand.

My research focuses on how legal and regulatory institutions, as well as corrupt environments, affect MNE foreign subsidiary nonmarket strategy formulation and performance outcomes. I have conducted extensive fieldwork in Southeast Asia. I have published in a wide array of journals (Google Scholar), currently serve on a number of editorial review boards, and have been ranked as a leading scholar in the field of multinational nonmarket strategy (Sun et al., JIBS, 2021). I have also received a number of honors and awards, including the Win Cooper II Faculty Excellence Award, as well as the Outstanding Faculty Award for Teaching, by the School of Management at the University of Michigan–Flint. Furthermore, I offer a rich background in global strategy research and consulting.
